Marie Key, Turboweekend, NORDLYD and Naked at SPOT

Daniel Heydorn

These days, critics, juries, ticket buyers and other pop stars are all head over heals for Marie Key. Last year’s acclaimed album ”De her dage” secured the singer nominations for both artist and hit of the year at the P3 Awards. Her spring tour was nearly sold out four weeks before its inaugural date, and lately her intense French kissing in a music video with fellow pop star Simon Kvamm has been a hot topic around the water coolers of Denmark. At SPOT, things are looking family friendly, however, as Marie Key is set to play at 2:00 p.m.

After being part of the Naked show at last year’s SPOT and playing several shows with a minimal setup, Turboweekend embarked on a brief intimate tour this February. The band and audience alike have all been excited about the new aspects of the songs that seemed to unfold with the minimalistic renditions. SPOT acknowledges the success by letting the guys in Turboweekend test the boundaries of intimacy in front of an audience of 1500. Later that same night, they will play a regular power set at the small venue Fatter Eskil.

Along with Silas Bjerregaard of Turboweekend, Ane Trolle, Johan Olsen and Clara Sofie also participated in last year’s Naked performance. Four well-renowned singers are invited to give stripped down interpretations of four songs from their own catalogue with pianist Gustav Ljunggren providing the muscial backdrop. After the success of last year’s show, we’re pleased to announce the return of this unique concept. The participants will be announced continuously on SPOT’s Facebook page.

NORDLYD is another conceptual feature. The singers Søren Huss, Siri Nilsen and Mariam Wallentin of Wildbirds & Peacedrums will be backed by a string section playing arrangements crafted especially for this occasion. The woman behind NORDLYD is Marie Dahl Kristensen who’s previously played with When Saints Go Machine at SPOT. This year, she has selected three voices that represent different aspects of current Nordic music.
