A successful songstress, a Mexican pop sensation and three young gentlemen at SPOT

The SPOT line-up is shaping up nicely with this weeks additions, including a beloved singer’s solo comeback, a platinum selling Mexican indie pop darling, a rapper from Copenhagen, a hip hop inspired synth pop project, a disco lover, a well-known electro pop group and the lead singer of one of Denmark’s most cherished indie rock groups.

Four years ago, Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg called it quits and stepped out of the internationally successful band Blue Foundation. She’s most likely the Danish singer accountable for the most YouTube views with over 40 million for a remix of the song “Eyes on Fire”. She continues to blend physical and virtual instruments and adds manipulated field recordings and of course her characteristic voice. The second single from the forthcoming debut album was released recently.

The organizer group behind SPOT – ROSA – has been collaborating with Zona de Obras, a Spanish magazine on culture, for several years. Now, this collaboration amounts to a visit from the Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade, a platinum selling chart topper in her home region. Natalia Lafourcade’s mix of indie pop and various South American styles has also garnered attention from prominent North American media. Since 2010, Zona de Obras has been arranging the festival Días Nordícos in Madrid, where Nordic culture is presented for the Spanish audience – and the musical part of the festival is planned in close collaboration with ROSA and SPOT.

This week’s male heavy weights Vinnie Who (picture), Orgi-E and Christian Hjelm all carry lengthy résumés. The lead singer of Figurines, Christian Hjelm, made his debut as a solo artist with the album “Før vi blev lette” in 2012. Here, the indie-rock Hjelm is known for was met with a twist of classic pop/rock song writing. Orgi-E is also known as part of a group and has now embarked on a solo mission. As a part of Suspekt, he’s been known as one of Denmarks finest rappers for years. The disco comet Vinnie Who has just released the follow up to the massive success of “Then I Met You”. The difficult follow-up bears the title “Midnight Special” and at SPOT, you’ll be able to hear material from the new record as well as the well-known disco ball anthems.

Slowolf is the newly formed solo project of former drummer Andreas Asingh. The name and sound creates remembrances of the cult genre witch house, where 80s synth meets syrupy southern hip-hop. But Slowolf combines the gothic darkness with more kind hearted pop qualities.

For the experienced SPOT-goer, Ginger Ninja will most likely be a familiar addition. The band has previously played at the festival three times, and has turned the attention into international touring activity. They are infamous for giving extremely festive performances.
