We are happy to reveal a new handful of Danish and Nordic acts who will join Alina Devecerski in the SPOT line-up. The five acts are: When Saints Go Machine, CTM, Jonas Alaska (NO) Miriam The Believer (SE), and Highasakite (NO)

When Saints Go Machine
In 2008 When Saints Go Machine received the P3 Gold Talent Award for their debut album “Ten makes a Faces”. Since then things have worked out just fine for the Copenhagen electro pop band, and in 2010 they opened the Orange Stage at the Roskilde Festival. On “Konkylie” the electronic pop experiments revolving around Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild’s distinctive vocals continued, and the album was favorably received both in Denmark and abroad.

CTM
With her band Chimes and Bells Cæcilie Trier explored the dark corners of electronic music. She has taken the melancholy with her into her solo project CTM, but now it is surrounded by friendly beats and synth layers with links to Roxy Music and the New Romantic wave of the 80s. The EP “Variations” was released in 2012 through Tambourhinoceros, and the next EP is expected to land in the spring of 2013.

Jonas Alaska (NO)
In his home country he is referred to as the Norwegian equivalent of Bob Dylan, and the comparison makes sense when you listen to the songs by singer / songwriter Jonas Alaska. He belongs in the intersection of Americana and folk, and when asked, he also points to Dylan and Neil Young as his most important sources of inspiration. He played a highly praised concert at SPOT 2012, which really opened the eyes of the Danish audience to this young Norwegian folk talent. Recently he played support at his fellow countryman Thomas Dybdahl’s concerts in Denmark and now he will return to Aarhus in May.

Mariam The Beliver (SE) “A combination of Janis Joplin’s power and Judy Garland’s vulnerability”. That is how The Guardian described Mariam Wallentin’s voice after a concert in London with the duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums. With the pseudonym Mariam the Believer the Swedish singer has now embarked on a solo project, where the improvisation and minimalism of Wildbirds & Peacedrums have been replaced by warm soul pop with an oriental touch. This is evident on the single “The String of Everything”, which is the harbinger of the album “Blood Donation”, which will be released in early 2013.

Highasakite (NO)
After the debut “All That Floats Will Rain” from February 2012 Highasakite have been on a roll. International music blogs and magazines have hailed the Norwegian group, and the gigs they have played include Øya Festival, Berlin Festival and Icelandic Airwaves. Ingrid Helene Håvik’s sitar has a prominent role, and the quaint instrument adds a distinctive color to Highasakite’s semi electronic indie pop universe.

The SPOT Festival takes place on 3rd and 4th May 2013 in Aarhus. The sale of tickets has begun.
